Access 2010

My life and travel experiences have had a great affect on who I am and how I see the world. Each art piece I envision is developed from a certain moment in time. With this new work, I am trying to dismantle the 'baggage' I carry.
Through these experiences, I acknowledge that water, a simple yet essential element of life, is one of the most globally political and problematic subjects of our current time.
Therefore, I was compelled to perform Access 2010 this August 17th, 2010. My goal was achieved over a 3.5 hour walk across Montreal island from the north shore to the south shore following St. Laurent Street carrying a bucket filled with the river's water. I hope this simple gesture may inspire awareness surrounding problems related to equality and accessibility of clean water.
